I enjoyed it! Have you every heard of Giles Peterson?

BB

Yes I sure have. Before Giles got all rich and famous he played out at a club called the Slammer [1986-88] with a few other dj's that were also not famous. It was a tiny 2 floor event that held maybe 200 people max and he played the basement with Craig and Marcus as regulars. Westwood would come down now and again but Giles, Craig and Marcus were the residents really. Pete Tong played the main room on the ground floor mostly solo but maggot and a few others did the warm up sometimes. The rest as they say has become history. Special Branch, Trip, Incredible, Alphabet City, FFRR, Acid Jazz, Brownswood, Essential Selection, WorldWide. I should have shares in his labels I bought enough stock over the years.

I was introduced to Gilles Peterson by a Chicago D.J. named Madrid. I was at the Virgin Megga store in downtown Chicago looking for something that was Sade, Jill Scott, Roy Ayers, Gil Scott Heron ish and Madrid was there D.Jaying. They told me to ask him to select something for me and he recommended the Worldwide album. I was pleased. Madrid is a dab hand at D.Jaying. His selection was perfect.

If you like the styles Giles puts out on worldwide then Mr.Bongo's website may have some music you'd like. The record shop closed down but they still run things on-line and remain specialist. The sites at www.buymrbongo.com
