harare - prostitution poverty and poaching

Zimbabwe has many problems and in Harare there's massive poverty and many are forced into prostitution to survive. In addition to those issues poaching has been added to the list of bad stuff that's going on. The World Wildlife Fund have reported a breakdown in law enforcement against rhino poaching and horn smuggling in Zimbabwe which is threatening the success of more than a decade's work bringing rhino populations back up to healthy levels.

Typical of the problem is the recent release of a gang of four Zimbabwean rhino poachers who admitted to killing 18 rhinos in five different areas of central Zimbabwe, including a semi-tame group of black rhinos slaughtered in their pens at Imire Safari Ranch. The poachers, also alleged to have been involved in a number of armed robberies and arrested with several illegal firearms were initially denied bail. It was then reported that the four had received lengthy jail sentences but the authorities decided to grant them bail. Then they were subsequently freed and immediately absconded. Shocking stuff. So naughty.

zimbabwe - 5 million humans face starvation

Problems in Zimbabwe are escalating under Mugabe's control - Millions of Zimbabweans are threatened with starvation after the widespread failure of the latest harvest brought on by the government's disastrous mishandling of land redistribution and food shortages in the shops caused by hyperinflation. The U.N stated hundreds of thousands of people require food aid immediately because they have harvested little or nothing in recent weeks. It has warned that up to 5 million will need assistance in the coming months. A third of the population is chronically malnourished.

Attempts to assist them are blocked by a ban on foreign aid agencies working in rural areas after President Robert Mugabe [a relative of the devil] said they were just fronts for "regime change" by Britain and the US. Aid workers say the first signs of looming famine are evident with significant population movements and children arriving at hospitals suffering from kwashiorkor (a form of malnutrition). Many families are reduced to one meal a day, with some living on fruit berries. According to the UN there has been a significant rise in the number of families fleeing to South Africa. Food availability has also been hit by hyperinflation which economists say runs above 10m%. zimbabwe - pure evil reigns - absolute power corrupts

Police in Zimbabwe yesterday arrested the secretary general of the main opposition party, the Movement for Democratic Change, and detained its leader, Morgan Tsvangirai, as he campaigned for the June 27 presidential run-off. Thats one way to win an election and somehow it seems like a foregone conclusion that Mugabe will continue with his Dicatorship for many years to come, whilst the rest of the Worlds governments stand by and do nothing to save the people of Zimbabwe. I refrain from swiping at flies but there are exceptions to rules and my peace loving philosophy towards life is hard to maintain when thoughts of 'taking this man out' enter my mind. Such men do not deserve to be on earth, let alone be in absolute power of a beautiful nation like Zimbabwe. The world never ceases to amaze me. Some amazement I could live without though. You know what I mean ? 'Power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts, absolutely.'

From the Times On-Line: Scores of children and babies have been locked up in filthy prison cells in Harare as Robert Mugabe, Zimbabwe’s president, sinks to new depths in his campaign to force the opposition into exile before an expected run-off in presidential elections. Twenty-four babies and 40 children under the age of six were among the 250 people rounded up in a raid on Friday, according to Nelson Chamisa, spokesman for the opposition Movement for Democratic Change (MDC). Yesterday they were crammed into cells in Southerton police station in central Harare.

war path - china supplies mugabe with weapons of destruction

A Chinese cargo ship carrying 77 tonnes of arms, including more than 3m rounds of ammunition, AK47 assault rifles, mortars and rocket-propelled grenades has docked in the South African port of Durban for transportation of the weapons to Zimbabwe. The South African government confirmed this yesterday and claimed it was powerless to intervene as long as the ship's papers were in order.

Copies of the documentation for the Chinese ship An Yue Jiang show that the weapons were sent from Beijing to the ministry of defence in Harare. Headed "Dangerous goods description and container packing certificate", the document was issued on April 1, three days after Zimbabwe's election. It lists the consignment as including 3.5m rounds of ammunition for AK47 assault rifles and for small arms, 1,500 40mm rockets, 2,500 mortar shells of 60mm and 81mm calibre, as well as 93 cases of mortar tubes. The carrier is listed as the Cosco shipping company in China.

That's one way to win the next election then, start a war and kill the opposition.
